Quillian Center Waterpark Houston

If you have little ones who light up at water but aren't ready for a giant slide tower, the Quillian Center is one of the easier wins in west Houston. Tucked into the Westchase area off Westpark, it's a community swim spot built around a shallow, Noah's Ark themed pool that toddlers can actually stand up in. It's a calmer, friendlier alternative to the big regional water parks, and for the under-six crowd that's exactly the point.

Quick note up front: despite the "waterpark" label this post used to carry, this isn't a sprawling park with wave pools and thrill rides. Think neighborhood pool plus a really good splash pad. That's good news if your day revolves around a 3-year-old.

What's actually here

There are two main water areas, and they split neatly by age.

• The Noah's Ark pool is the star for small kids. The splash-pad section is only a few inches deep, so toddlers can walk around safely without you holding your breath. At its center is an ark play structure with kid-sized slides and crawl-through tunnels, plus a mushroom water drop, a coconut drop, animal-shaped sprayers, and a little rainbow slide sized for the youngest visitors.
• The big pool is for stronger swimmers and older kids, with a large slide and two diving boards. It's the natural spot for elementary-age siblings while the toddlers stay in the shallow end.

This setup is what makes the Quillian Center work for mixed-age families: nobody's stuck somewhere that's too tame or too deep for them.

Best ages

This is a pre-K through early-elementary paradise. Two- and three-year-olds do beautifully in the shallow Ark pool, and the gentle features hold the attention of kids up to about second grade. Older kids and teens will get more out of the big pool with its diving boards and slide, but if your crew is all 10 and up, a larger water park may be a better fit. For toddlers and preschoolers, though, it's hard to beat.

What to bring and what's on site

Pack the usual: swimsuits, plenty of sunscreen, towels, and water shoes if your kids dislike hot pavement. The center has lifeguards on duty, shaded tables with umbrellas to claim as your home base, and clean restrooms with changing areas, which is a genuine relief when you're wrangling a wet toddler and a swim diaper. There's a fenced playground right outside the pool gates too, handy for a change of scene when someone's had enough water.

Swim diapers are required for any child who isn't potty-trained, and proper swimwear is the rule, so leave the cotton shorts and jeans at home.

Food

There's a concession stand selling the expected pool-day lineup: burgers, hot dogs, pizza, drinks, ice cream and candy, with picnic tables nearby. Whether you can bring your own cooler has been described differently in different places, so if packing snacks matters to your budget, call ahead and confirm the current policy before you load up the wagon.

Getting there and parking

The Quillian Center is at 10570 Westpark Drive, Houston, TX 77042, in the Westchase area, with a free on-site lot. It's run as the recreation ministry of First Houston United Methodist Church and has been part of this neighborhood since 1958. You don't need to be a church member to swim; public swim is open to everyone during the season.

Season, hours and cost

This is a summer-only swim spot. For 2026 the public-swim season runs from late May into early September, with pool hours generally Monday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Sundays are reserved for private parties, and on Mondays the big pool tends to open a bit later in the afternoon. Admission has been listed around $12 per person for open swim, with some evening and twilight sessions priced differently.
